What Accreditation Means for Families
Choosing a school is a significant decision. Accreditation brings clarity by showing that a school has been thoroughly examined by trusted, outside experts—people who take a close look at how a school teaches, leads, forms students, and plans for the future.
At SACS, our accreditations reflect a deep commitment to doing things the right way. They affirm that we’re staying true to our mission while continuing to grow with purpose and accountability in every area of school life.
Distinctions That Set SACS Apart
San Antonio Christian School is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and has earned its highest designation: Exemplary Accreditation—a distinction awarded to a small number of schools that model excellence in academics, leadership, spiritual formation, and organizational health. It’s more than a credential—it’s a reflection of how we live out our mission each day.
We’re also a member of the Council on Educational Standards & Accountability (CESA)—a peer-reviewed network of Christian schools known for high academic standards, gospel-centered leadership, and long-term institutional strength. CESA’s membership is intentionally rigorous and selective.
Few schools pursue this level of external review, and fewer still are recognized at this standard. For SACS, it’s not about status—it’s about doing the work to ensure every part of our school reflects the calling we’ve been given.
The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) accredits nearly 900 Christian schools around the world. Its process evaluates every aspect of a school’s operations—academic excellence, spiritual formation, leadership, governance, and school culture.
SACS has earned ACSI’s highest honor: Exemplary Accreditation. Fewer than 25 schools worldwide currently hold this distinction. It recognizes schools with a demonstrated history of excellence and a vibrant, Christ-centered culture—along with a clear commitment to continuous improvement backed by data, feedback, and results.
The Council on Educational Standards & Accountability (CESA) is an invitation-only fellowship of Christian schools that meet rigorous benchmarks for academic strength, biblical faithfulness, leadership, financial stewardship, and long-term institutional health.
CESA schools go through an intensive peer-reviewed process and commit to ongoing improvement across all areas of school life. Fewer than 50 schools nationwide are part of this network—including many of the most respected Christian schools in the country. San Antonio Christian School is honored to be among them.
Independent Schools Athletic League
The Independent Schools Athletic League (ISAL) promotes organized, values-based athletic competition among private schools in the San Antonio area. As a member, SACS provides student-athletes with meaningful opportunities to compete, grow in character, and represent their school with excellence.
