Laying a Foundation for Faith and Learning
Lion Cub Academy is a preschool program designed especially for children who are ready for structured, play-based learning in a Christ-centered environment. With a focus on spiritual, academic, social, and physical development, the Lion Cub Academy helps young learners build a strong foundation for Pre-K.
This full-time, five-day program is tailored for three-year-olds and young four-year-olds who are fully potty trained and ready to thrive in a nurturing classroom setting. Whether your child just misses the Pre-K cutoff of turning four by September 1 or simply needs a year of preparation, Lion Cub Academy offers the perfect first step into their educational journey.

Christ-Centered Learning Starts Early
Spiritual development is woven into every part of the Lion Cub experience. Our degreed and certified educators are passionate about both early childhood development and guiding young hearts toward the truth of God’s Word.
Through learning about the true accounts found in the Bible, intentional times of prayer, and everyday conversations that reflect God’s love, students learn that God’s Word is true. They begin to understand who they are in Christ and what it means to live with kindness, grace, and purpose.

A Purposeful, Play-Based Approach
Our program blends intentional academics with hands-on activities that support age-appropriate growth in every area. Through purposeful play, interactive lessons, and daily routines, students develop:
- Social and emotional readiness
- Early literacy and math foundations
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Listening and communication
- Confidence and independence
Each day is thoughtfully planned to foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning—while keeping Christ at the center of all we do.
Not a Daycare – A School-Day Program
Lion Cub Academy is not a daycare. It is a school-day program with structured routines, certified teachers, and curriculum designed to prepare students for Pre-K. Children benefit from a consistent schedule, classroom expectations, and enrichment experiences that promote school readiness.
Students also enjoy:
- Daily outdoor play on the Pre-K playground
- Age-appropriate enrichment activities within the classroom
- A safe, nurturing environment designed for early learners

Growing in Faith and Knowledge
Children must be 3 years old by the first day of school and fully potty trained to enroll.
Yes, a group assessment is part of the application process. Rather than focusing on academic skills, this assessment focuses on signs of social and emotional readiness. This includes a child’s ability to separate from a parent, share and play cooperatively with peers, and follow simple one‐step directions. These foundational skills help ensure a smooth transition into the classroom and set your child up for success in our structured, Christ‐centered learning environment.
Yes, the Lion Cub Academy is fully aligned with the covenant partnership model followed throughout San Antonio Christian School. As part of the application process, families will be asked to submit a pastoral reference and affirm our Statement of Faith. We believe that a strong partnership between home, church, and school is essential in nurturing a child’s spiritual and academic development.

Meet the Teachers
Every member of the SACS team desires to care for our students both academically and spiritually.
“I would tell any parent considering SACS for their children to tour the school and get to know the awesome staff. If they do that and are looking for a Christ-centered education in a safe environment, it will be an easy decision to make!”
